I am not a good gambler, by any stretch of the imagination. But I do enjoy betting every now and then. Below are 4 games that I am going to bet on, and why. I will almost certainly lose, but at least I am somewhat self aware.
Friday Night
North Carolina defeating Syracuse
Bill Belichick is 2-5 during his inaugural season as Head Coach of the Tarheels, and while many thought Bill would bring his New England success over immediately, it has been a bit of a rough start.
I feel like Bill seeing the Patriots lead the AFC East and nearly the entire AFC has put even more pressure on him, as people are starting to assume it was all Brady all along. I don’t know if that is really a popular thought, but to me it makes sense. Story lines are story lines; I think Bill goes all out on Halloween and takes one from the Orange. You can get the Tarheels winning outright at +110 depending on the Sportsbook you use.
Dodgers force a Game 7 in Toronto, and it is a Slugfest
Back to my “Story lines are story lines” quote. I think it makes too much sense for this to go seven games. I do not want the Dodgers to win, and most baseball fans aside from those who root for other teams in the American League East would probably agree. Either way, I am hoping for a Dodger victory tonight, only to have a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walk off homer on Saturday night.
Truth be told, I am a bit skeptical of Yoshi Yammamoto having another stellar outing. He is definitely locked in but come on. Eventually the other shoe always drops. I see him, just like the unlucky Blake Snell, potentially getting hit hard tonight. Maybe the luck will be with LA bats? Who knows? Not me.

Islanders beat the Capitals, in D.C., 3-2
I don’t really watch hockey. I have tried, but similar to the NBA, I just can’t get into it until the playoffs. Yes, this is not the playoffs. But I have a feeling we see a victory from the Islanders tonight. Yes, they have one of the worst records in the NHL, but it is Halloween. Anything can happen?
They played the Capitals in New York on October 11th and lost. They lost pretty bad actually. That being said, they did score 2 goals, but those were after they were down 4-0 and the game was pretty much over. I think the Islanders were saving it for 10/31, It just makes too much sense.

Memphis Destroys Rice, Scoring 32 or More Points and Winning by 8+ at Half
I wanted to bet on Rice because + signs in front of teams in the Money Line portion of any Sportsbook bring me joy. I like seeing and rooting for underdogs. When it happens, and I am on the right side of history, I feel like an expert.
I am not an expert. Rice is not very good, and Memphis is ranked. Both teams are top-20 in rushing per game, but Rice is the 3rd worst team in the nation in passing yards per game. That just seems like a disaster in the making. I don’t know anything, Rice probably passes for 300 yards and puts up 60 tonight. I will take Memphis -7.5 in the 1st half at -102 and over Memphis 32 points total at -105. Why not.
That is all I have for now. Please read whether or not I wanted the Brewers to win the World Series, and do not blame me for writing that and then their bats freezing immediately. There is certainly no correlation.
