As we turn the calendar in to August, the dog days of summer are in full effect. The warm weather, the thin air, leads to a higher probability of balls flying out of stadiums. Below are three players to hit a home run during tonight’s MLB slate.
1.) Joc Pederson, Arizona Diamondbacks
With 16 home runs in 253 at bats, and a surprising .281 batting average, Pederson is having a decent season in his limited role. Currently, Pederson is on a serious hot streak, hitting .368 in his last 7 games, homering three times. Expect Joc to go yard tonight against the righty Mitch Keller.
2.) Vinny Pasquantino, Kansas City Royals
In his last 30 games, Pasquantino has 6 home runs and a .330 average. The Royals have played above expectations this season, and continue to look to make a playoff spot in a tough American League. The Royals’ lefty has 14 home runs on the season, but has really found his power swing as of late. He is facing a lefty in Tyler Holton as the Royals continue their series in Detroit.
3.) Jonah Heim, Texas Rangers
Heim has struggled as of late, and has had a few days off this week. He is a big bat with a big frame, and is always a risk to go deep against any pitcher. The switch-hitting catcher will have his work cut out for him against the Red Sox ace Tanner Houck.
