Now entering the season of complete chaos and conference shifting, it may take a while to get acclimated to the new structure. For some of these powerhouse schools, it might not take as long as you would think.
BIG 10 Conference: Oregon
The high-powered ducks offense may have arrived at the right time. Defending National Champion Michigan is likely going to take a step back after losing 13 players to the NFL draft. That, combined with Coach Harbaugh’s departure to the Chargers leaves a lot of uncertainty in Ann Arbor. Oregon’s biggest challenge will be Ohio State, a school that has extra motivation after seeing their bitter rival win it all in 2024. The Ducks have a few tricks up their sleeve, which is something most Ducks traditionally do not have. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel from Oklahoma is the current favorite for the Heisman Trophy, and gets a litany of weapons, such as wide receivers Tez Johnson and Evan Stewart. Oregon also has a laughably soft schedule up until they face Ohio State on October 12th. This game is going to be in Eugene, and the winner may waltz their way to a Big 10 Title as well as a a potential 1 seed in the new, shiny college football playoff bracket.

BIG 12 Conference: Oklahoma State
The Cowboys have one of the best running backs in the nation in Ollie Gordon II, and also have quarterback Alan Bowman who may be poised for a big year. The loss of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC certainly pulls some of the big dogs out of the way, and it may leave the door cracked just enough for a talented Oklahoma State to sneak in. Expected to be a Top-25 team in the nation, they will need to win against all competition, and not allow themselves to be tripped up by a South Alabama-type school. Oklahoma State managed to lose a few head scratchers, like the let down game against UCF that came after a huge win to their rival Oklahoma. If they can avoid playing down to their competition, and they can utilize the senior leadership and experience on their roster, OSU may be able to snatch their first title since 2011.
