Is there anything like making a low money bet on an out of this world, seemingly endless legged parlay and then watching it begin to unfold in your favor? It does not happen often, and sometimes it is nicer to release you from your potential misery early on, rather than keep you on the hook until the end. But what happens when each leg begins to finalize, and you see W after W? Then it becomes real, and possible. My goal is to create some of the possible, or at least show some baselines for you to make your own cheap, lottery ticket parlays.

1.) Boston Red Sox Defeat the San Diego Padres in the 2024 World Series

For starters, the Red Sox have shown many times during the 21st century that they are capable of winning it all if they can make it to the postseason. Boston has more World Series than anyone since they won in 2004, so it cannot be ruled out. They currently have a 51-42 record and are tied for the last Wild Card spot in the American League. On the other side of this bet, the Padres need to get there. They have underperformed, year after year, even when they stack their roster with superstars. Their saving grace may be their pitching rotation. San Diego has flawed, but extremely talented starters in Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove and Dylan Cease, even if their play has been limited with injuries and off the field matters this season. Even with their struggles, the Padres find themselves just a single game out of the last Wild Card spot, in what has been a mostly weak NL this season.

2.) Caleb Williams (CHI) Leads the NFL in Passing Yards in 2024

I mean, why not? Williams is a highly touted rookie, a former Heisman winner, and a tremendous arm talent. He has several weapons at his disposal, including two pro-bowl caliber wide receivers and a 1st round rookie. He will likely be able to air it out, and with new offensive coordinator, Shane Waldron, who knows what he is capable of? But a rookie? Someone with no NFL experience, besting the Mahomes’, Allen’s and Tagovailoa’s? It could happen, especially if Williams hits the ground running like rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud did last year, and as many rookie QB’s have done before.

3.) Michigan Wolverines Win the 2024 National Championship in College Football

They have lost a lot of talent after their 2023 National Championship and undefeated season. It is important to acknowledge that. Starting QB J.J. McCarthy and running back Blake Corum certainly lead the pack, but they are just the start. Michigan also lost several defensive starters, all within the first few rounds, with 13 players being drafted in total. Harbaugh, their former head coach, also departed for the NFL. All of that being said, this is still Michigan, and this team still has talented players that contributed in 2023. The expanded playoff format can help them also, with more pathways to the playoffs available. If they can make it in, all they need to do is beat some teams that they have beaten before.

$0.22 to pay $248,985.88 (+113175300 on DraftKings Sportsbook)

Essentially, DraftKings would need let me exceed that $0.22 cent bet at what winds up equaling out to 1,131,753 to 1. Understandable. Overall, these are not that insane. They are truly unlikely, and each leg has reasons why they probably will come up short, but they are not impossible.
