A solid matchup between two underachieving teams (at least at this point into the season). Rookie Randy Rodriguez takes the bump for the home team, while veteran Kyle Hendricks looks to turn his season around after a difficult start to the season.
Both teams sit at identical 37-42 records, and both sit near or at the bottom of their respective divisions. Both teams have struggled as of late, but San Francisco plays well at home, and Chicago struggles on the road. This one may skew towards the Giants.
Giants slugger, Jorge Soler, has not homered in his last four games. His last home run occurred in Chicago on June 19th. Kyle Hendricks did start that game, but that was not who Soler homered off of. Hendricks actually got the win on that June 19th game against the Giants, striking out 8 over 5 and 2/3 innings. That was Hendricks best start of the year, and his only win.
With both teams struggling, the home/away splits favoring San Francisco, and the fact that Hendricks just pitched against them 5 days ago, I am going with the Giants to figure him out and win this game. I also see Jorge Soler potentially going yard.
